BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB)- The Sabres made a coaching move on Wednesday adding Steve Smith as an assistant coach.
Smith joins the organization after spending the last four seasons as an assistant with the Carolina Hurricanes, where he was in charge of the team’s defensemen and penalty kill. Now he will responsible for the development of top prospect Rasmus Dahlin.
Smith won three Stanley Cups (1987, 1988 and 1990) during his 16 seasons playing in the NHL. In 804 total regular-season games as a defenseman with the Oilers, Blackhawks and Flames, Smith totaled 375 points.
