On the football field or in the classroom, Allegany-Limestone’s Brandon Watkins, in the words of his coach, always shows up and gets the work done.
“He’s the epitome of a student athlete,” said head coach Paul Furlong. “His grades are off the chart. It’s one of those, he’s the one kid you never ever had to worry about acadmeically, athletically.”
A starter on varsity on both sides of the ball since he was a sophomore, Brandon has also excelled on the mats as a wrestler and on the track in the shotput and discus.
“The growth has been amazing,” he said.
“I don’t think he’s missed a workout in three years,” added Furlong.
He also, hasn’t missed much in the class room. With a 99 Grade Point Average, Brandon hopes to one day take his love for physics and mechanical and aerospace engineering to the far reaches of the universe working for either
“Nasa, Boeing or Space X,” said Brandon on what he’d like to do in the future.
A journey potentially to the far reaches of the universe that all begin in the hallways and classrooms at Allegany-Limestone.
“When leave school, I want come back and think of to Allegany-Limestone as a place I can call home. It raised me. It dug the well that I drank from.”
