Jeff Skinner scored twice, while Tage Thompson and Sam Reinhart each snapped out of long goal-less droughts as the Sabres snapped a three game losing streak with a 4-3 win over the Florida Panthers on Thursday.

Skinner opened the scoring with an All-Star effort by forcing a turnover, maneuvering through the slot and then ripping a shot over the shoulder of Roberto Luongo with a little more than 15 minutes to play in the first period.
The winger, who is now second in the league in goals, is two shy of Alex Ovechkin’s 30. Despite his strong first half, he remains off the league’s All-Star game roster but can still be voted in by fans.

Thompson would tally hit first goal in 14 games less than three minutes later, as the Sabres capitalized on two-on-one.
It would stay that way until the second period as the Panthers would take advantage of a two-on-one as well, with Frank Vatrano beating Linus Ullmark to pull Florida within a goal.
In the third period, the Sabres had the intensity they did when they the game started, and got back on the board courtesy’s of Reinhart’s tip in less than two minutes into the frame.
After Florida pulled within 3-2 with a power play goa l, Skinner was back to his goal scoring tricks, netting his second of the game, which proved to be the game winner.
Buffalo returns to the ice on Saturday, when they travel to Buffalo.
