BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - In the Battle of Main Street, the University at Buffalo women's basketball team used a 33 point third quarter to defeat Canisius 84-66.
Canisius held a 18-17 point lead at the end of the first quarter, but the Bulls would use a 18-12 second quarter to head into the half with a five point lead.
UB came out firing on all cylinders in the third quarter, using a 20-0 run carried over from the late minutes of the second quarter. By the end of the quarter the Bulls had a steady 68-49 lead.
Cierra Dillard led all scorers with 25 points. The senior also recorded her first double-double of the season, tallying 10 assists. She continued her streak of 20+ point performances for the seventh straight game
Hannah Hall had a career high 16 points for the Bulls, 14 of which came in the first half.
For the Griffs, senior Sara Hinriksdottir led the way with 16 points and eight rebounds. D'Jhau Patterson-Ricks had 17 points for Canisius.
The Griffs host Bowling Green Saturday at 2pm. The Bulls continue their road trip when they face Dayton Friday at 2pm.
