Cierra Dillard and Theresa Onwuka each scored 18 points for the UB women’s basketball team, but it wasn’t enough as Kent State dropped the Bulls 62-53 in the regular season finale on Saturday.
UB struggled from the field, shooting a lowly 26 percent from the floor and connected on just three of their 16 shots from beyond the arc. They combined to go 0-for-7 on their 3-pointers in the second and third quarters.
Despite their struggles from the floor, the Bulls nearly pulled off the comeback. Dillard would hit a three pointer to pull Buffalo within 49-46 with 6:40 left to play in regulation.
Finesse Dickson then pulled Buffalo to within 53-51 with a layup and free throw after being fouled going to the hoop. However that would be UB’s final field goal of the game as they were limited to just two free throws the rest of the way. Buffalo was also held scoreless the final 3:03 of the fourth quarter.
Up next for the Bulls is a trip to the MAC Tournament in Cleveland which begins on Wednesday.
