Bulls rally past CMU and into MAC championship with 85-81 win

UB Bulls

CJ Massinburg scored the final nine points of the game to lift #18 Buffalo past Central Michigan 85-81 in the Mid-American Conference semifinals and back to the conference title game.

The Bulls, who are the No. 1 seed, will now look to capture their fourth league title in five season when they face either Northern Illinois or Bowling Green.

With the win, the Bulls tied a conference record with their 30th win of the season, matching the mark set by Kent State during the 2009 season.

UB overcame their second worst shooting performance of the season from beyond arc, connecting on just six of their 32 attempts.  They were 4-of-26 against Kent State earlier this season.

Jeremy Harris didn’t connect on his first 3-pointer until late in the fourth quarter, as he finished 1-for-9 from distance and totaled just 12 points.

Massinburg tallied 21 despite going 5-for-17, but came up clutch hitting eight of 10 free throws, which included him sinking seven of his final eight attempts in the game’s final minute.

Tip-off for the MAC title game is set for 7:30 p.m. Saturday night at Quicken Loans Arena.
