Here is the recipe for widespread valley fog

Science With Stevie

Why is fog particularly common during the fall months? Once the temperatures get colder, the night becomes longer and colder air is usually situated right above warmer water in the valleys.

Even though the air temperatures get colder during the fall months, the water bodies are still relatively warm since water cools and warms much slower than air.
