After some locally dense valley fog, we have a pretty nice day shaping up with plentiful sunshine eventually giving way to more cloudiness toward evening. Those clouds start to drop rain on us, first toward the Southern Tier early evening, then in the Buffalo-Niagara Falls metro toward late evening. There could be a few moderate to heavy downpours. Rain showers, maybe a rumble of thunder to begin Tuesday taper off for awhile during the afternoon. After a few spotty showers Tuesday night, a sharp cold front will trigger another round of showers and perhaps some stronger thunderstorms Wednesday, especially south and east of the metro, before some breaks in the clouds later in the day.
A drier forecast seems to be shaping up late week along with some coolish temperatures. Drier, brighter weather returns Thursday-Friday
